Is There Too Much Information Available?

In the past, life was much simpler, but in today's technologically charged world, we are constantly bombarded with information overload. True, there are some really important and good details existing, and on the flip side of that coin, there, too, is trash. It is enough to break anyone down to feel lesser of him or her self because of what is out there. Our spirits are strong, but our bodies are weak.

Thus, as an information scientist I'm constantly dealing with the junk inclusive of spam, pages of advertisements, terrible design aesthetics, and epileptic seizure producing websites. It is horrible with all the detrimental particulars that are out there, from pornographic material to extremism in any field. In regard to these fields and sub-fields, everyone seems to have a cause to exceedingly support. Thank goodness for filtering programs and parental controls. We try our best to protect those that we love.

Another problem with so much data getting 'ground out' every day is security. On the Internet, there is a war going on between good and evil, as in life. Malevolent hackers are continually fighting the knowledge and training of white hat hackers with viruses, worms, Trojans, malware, and other malicious software. Newly compromising applications and programs can easily clear out secure databases of personal statistics and finances with the click of a mouse from one unsuspecting administrator, which can spread like wildfire sometimes. Those that are given the greater authority and responsibilities sometimes create the greatest risks.

In the bigger picture, we have to look at all of this and know that there, too, is a lot of good and honest data available. It includes educational and skill-building software as well as problem-solving detailed programs for benefiting our world and mankind. Both art and science have merged into three-dimensional modeling with added depth and visualization techniques. The human brain is one of the most significant and important functioning organisms in the universe. The mind is the final frontier and not space.

I tend to look at all of this information with an optimistically balanced-brain viewpoint. There is an ingrained knowledge and understanding of whom is going to win this war overall in the end. It is a life we all try to achieve for the common good or in respect of the golden rule. People either base their thoughts and actions from religious or scientific beliefs thus bringing conflicts between themselves.

Take The Strain Of Your IT Infrastructure With Hosted Services

Do you sometimes struggle to get the support you need from your internal IT department?

Signing up for Hosted Services will mean that you still have access to a fully supported energy monitoring application over the internet without the need for local installation, backup or the consequential IT constraints, therefore the strain is taken off your servers, allowing them to concentrate on the essential needs of your business.

Using a service like this allows you to use the energy monitoring software in exactly the same way as you would locally but benefit from high performance hardware and high support availability of a hosted service.

Benefits of this service include:

  • Increased data processing capacity through a high specification server

  • Allowing you to use the optimum set-up for the energy monitoring application

  • Less of a reliance on local or outsourced IT support and backup

  • Direct access to the software's support team if required

  • Free software updates (carried out for you by the support team)

  • Ability to access your data from outside your corporate network using a secure connection

  • Option to take advantage of the software's Premium Maintenance and Support Services

The energy management software and database are set-up on a secure high-speed server.

You connect to the secure host server using a URL similar to a website address. To log into the energy management software from any computer you need to use a Windows application called Remote Desktop. All processing utilises a powerful server and a high-speed internet connection (10Mbit) which ensures fast access to your energy data.

Just like when you run the software off your own local server you can have multiple users simultaneously accessing the system. As with the locally run access to your energy management system, this is password controlled and for added security and you can also choose to only allow specific IP addresses to log in.

The benefit of using this service for your energy consumption and monitoring is support staff can log into the software directly to provide a more hands-on support service if required. This includes carrying out regular database health checks and maintenance work if required.

If you are already using the energy monitoring Software in your organisation your existing database can be easily transferred to the secure server.

The hosted servers are situated in a purpose-built data centre with top-level security (T4) where access is only provided to authorised IT personnel.

The site provides a managed uninterrupted power supply and two back-up generators with 30 hours of fuel on-site for 100% uptime. Two back-up internet connections ensure that access is guaranteed.

Automatic backups are ran to ensure your database is protected against loss of data. Optional regular encrypted backups of the database can be provided on DVD if required.

Process Drives Predictable Results, Lower Risk and Costs

In the recent article Ebola Shows It Is Process-Not Technology-That Will Protect Us on wired.com, Jeanne Roue-Taylor discusses how technology alone is insufficient in controlling the disease. She further discusses how process breakdowns increased the risk of transmission. From Eric Duncan not properly being screened before boarding his plane to his first hospital visit, following a properly planned process could have stopped the subsequent infections, where process again broke down. She concludes that process and not technology will best control the spread of this disease. The same can be said when dealing with any issue in business, to achieve success, we need to use technology as a tool to implement well planned process.

Delving into the Ebola comparison further, the CDC underestimated the risk of transmission from the beginning. I believe this caused a false sense of security and possibly contributed to lax safety protocols and a patchwork of standards. In the case of Dr Craig Spencer, who volunteered with Doctors Without Borders in Guinea, he was allowed to self-quarantine. A protocol that he did not adhere to when he used public transportation including the subway and Uber. Subsequently, the bowling alley that he visited the night before being diagnosed had to temporarily shut down due to concerns over infection.

Following Spencer's diagnosis, New York and New Jersey felt compelled to institute a mandatory quarantine of all healthcare workers coming from West Africa; a move that is criticized as an overreaction, uneducated, and political. All may or may not be true, however, time and again it seems that it is human nature to down play or dismiss worst case scenarios until either they actually happen or we catch a glimpse of what may happen that scares us into action. The natural response is to then overcompensate in the effort to both "learn from our mistakes" and show others that we are now taking proper action.

In the business world and life in general, the concept of process is a boring and unpopular topic. Nevertheless, when we view proper planning and implementation of process as integral to our success, mishaps, unexpected outcomes and unforeseen risks are minimized and ultimately avoided. In our business, the smallest step skipped can result in time spent resolving avoidable issues later which result in unexpected costs, downtime and customer dissatisfaction. I do not know the price tag for the treatment the infected patients and sterilization of their homes and the venues they visited. I would be willing to gamble that proper training, planning and implementation of process and safety protocols would have been less costly and controversial. As in the case of Ebola in the US and even minor everyday tasks, technology can make us more efficient but, without process, the results cannot be accurately predicted.

Technically It's a Technical Translation

One of the things that can confuse even the greatest minds are technical translation. Mobile game apps are usually the most difficult to translate due to its specialised terminology. However, there are many translation services with quality translation tools combined with real human translators, who are more than happy to professionally translate any of your apps, games or websites.

I Just Want My Game Translated

If you're thinking about having your game translated, then might I suggest you decide on which language you'd want translated first. This is probably the most fundamental part of your project especially if you're thinking about going international with it. Once you've decided which language you want translated then you're already half way there.

Don't Go Down that Slippery Slope

The next step is actually finding a good translation service, who can assist you on your every needs. Literally. When something doesn't quite translate, we'd immediately know there's a fatal error and finding a solution can take a while. Meaning, finding a professional translation service is a MUST. It will definitely save you time and cost, unless you've just got money to burn!

My Translation Brings All the Boys to the Yard

Who remembers back in the mid 90s where dubbed films were pretty 'interesting', (by that, I really meant it wasn't), but it still kept you hooked even though the translations were awful? Now, you really don't want your audience to comment or complain about terrible subs and dubs on any of your products and don't bother using Babelfish either because that's definitely not going to help. What you need are real professional translators and not some unchecked machine- produced translation. Any bad translation or mistranslation could lead to a lost of trust in your brand and not to mention that the quality of your product will probably be scrutinised and God forbids that your decision in not finding a translator would lead to this humiliating mockery. Get your product localized and you're likely to see a positive outcome.

Just For Fun

One of Japan's famous games: 'Ghosts 'n Goblins' obviously did a wonderful job in their translation. If you're one of the lucky ones who'd managed to have completed the game, then you know what I'm talking about. "Congraturation. The story is happy end" appears after you have completed the game twice. (Yep, twice)!

Lets face it, bad translation was more acceptable back in the days, but now... not so much. It's about time to take translation a lot more seriously and not rely on Google's translation tools either.

Don't Be Cheap!

If you're looking for some of the best translation, then definitely seek a professional translation service, who can provide quality and accurate translation for you.

Ever heard of the saying: "You pay for what you get?" Well, the cheaper the service, the more likely it's going to be some mediocre translation, so you've been warned. Having said that, make sure you're willing to dish the dosh if you really want perfect translation. I'm not saying you'll break your bank, but definitely do your own research and just be prepared to fork out if needs be; since it'll be worth every penny in the long run.

The SMB Owner's Guide to Ensuring Your Success With Hyperconvergence

Hyperconvergence is the newest IT architecture that is removing both cost and complexity from virtualization infrastructure. This article assumes you are aware of the advantages of hyperconvergence and how it applies to the business end of your small to medium business. What we are going to discuss is how to ensure that you are getting the TRUE advantages from Hyperconvergence over what all those fancy marketing papers say you can.

A small to medium business(SMB) doesn't mean just a tiny kiosk in the mall that only has a single POS computer. We're talking about SMB in terms of between 50 to 500 employees with an IT staff of up to 5 full or part-time staffers.

There are a lot of claims out there around hyperconvergence technologies. At the top of the list is reducing costs. Also, it claims to be a simpler environment for your IT staff - increasing productivity. As the business owner, what questions do you need to ask to ensure that your hard-earned capital is well spent?

Among all the claims, there are 5 things that you need to look for in a hyperconverged solution to ensure that your solution brings everything to your business that it can.

Vendors in the solution

One of the claims of hyperconvergence is simplification of the solution. This is potentially achieved by eliminating the multitude of vendors that are part of a traditional virtualized solution. This solution involves how many vendors? Where do the individual responsibilities of each vendor start and stop? Will you need multiple support contracts, or is everything covered under one master contract? Is there a central support number to call, or is there the possibility of finger-pointing between various manufacturers? In this vein, is the solution the intellectual property of one company, or are there different licensing agreements in place? How could this affect YOUR investment in the event of a manufacturer bankruptcy?

Licensing

The initial install of the solution is probably correctly sized for your business. What happens if you need to expand that installation? If you need more virtual servers, or to add more users, are there going to be any additional license fees (Vmware)? What about yearly maintenance fees, will those grow, too? What if we expand and I want to add virtual servers at another location? Are my licenses "tiered" or do they get more expensive for additional functionality or when I hit a certain license count? These are not necessarily deal-breakers, but fore-warned is fore-armed. It sure helps to have a reliable idea of licensing costs when budget time rolls around.

Expandability

Hyperconverged solutions come in all shapes and sizes. Different solutions exist for a dozen virtualized servers, and for several hundred virtual servers. Whichever you have is not as important as the answer to the question Is the solution expandable? Does the solution have the ability to cover your business as it grows, without the dreaded "fork-lift upgrade", which means downtime for the profit-centers of your business. In addition to this, if upgrades are possible, do they involve downtime? Can your sales department sell while the upgrades occur?

Installation

Sure, everyone will be more than happy to install this beast once you have signed on the dotted line, but just how complex is that installation? Can we operate on the existing systems and minimize downtime while the installation occurs? How complex is the switchover to the new systems (Easily migrating VMs or data)? Can your IT staff shadow the installation? Is it easy enough that they can do it themselves with just a bit of guidance? Can your staff expand the system, or will you need outside help?

Ease of Use

Now that we have it and everything is running, just how difficult is it to get my IT staff up to speed on the product? Is there additional training that will take my staff off site in order to learn how to use this product? Once I train my staff, am I in danger of losing them to a competitor willing to pay more for those certifications? When we add additional virtual servers to the environment, will my staff be able to do that? How difficult is it, and how long will it take? Since my staff isn't as large as some of the big-guys, how difficult is it to cross-train?

Summary

Hyperconvergence is an amazing leap forward for IT virtualization. Correctly sized, designed, and implemented it promises a lot to the small to medium business. But like most things in life, one size doesn't necessarily fit all. Spending money wisely requires due diligence. Make sure the business squeezes all of the value that you paid for from this solution. Address the questions around vendors, licensing, systems expandability, installation and ease of use.

Engage with the manufacturers and ask the solutions provider the next step questions addressed in this article. This will ensure that you enjoy the advantages advertised while getting the exact solution to benefit your business NOW.

Quad Processor Server: Best for Multitasking Work

This processor was intended for the most recent computers for greatest efficiency whilst maximizing also electricity power saving owing to its advanced feature capability. To begin with, you must make sure the new processor you would like can be used with your present motherboard. A number of affordable quad processor server can be purchased from online stores. This 32-bit processor was the most innovative processor employed in many computers which were manufactured then. There are lots of processors intended for the mid-range user, who wants a workstation, which can take care of lots of multitasking workload.

Rackmount servers are precisely what you should be studying. A lot of these devices, however, come with numerous cores. It is these contemporary low cost servers which may be subject to very higher software license expenses. An advertising department manager reports that the advertising department database has incorrect data. These quad processor servers in comparison to others we've researched are unquestionably the best price. It's important to know why these caches are vital to making your gaming laptop run far better.

AMD is far behind with respect to technology at this time and it's strongly recommended that you go for an Intel processor instead, since it will certainly provide far better performance. Intel delivers several processors that are commonly held to be a number of the greatest CPU's around for PC gaming systems. The motherboard connects the rest of the components to one another, such as, for instance, a brain or heart. Technically however a motherboard is a complicated item of technology which exists in virtually every electronic device. The motherboard is easily the most important part of the computer. Even though most motherboards support just 1 CPU socket, some applications gain from having more than 1 processor to attack the tasks at hand. Chipsets are already embedded into your logic board the majority of the moment, meaning you must select your chipset at precisely the same time you select your processor.

When it isn't then you can either look for a different processor that's compliant, or change out your motherboard with something which's compatible by it. The very first direction targeted at gaming and the way the dual core processor server will improve the gaming the capacity of the computer. Besides, these hexa core processors are inclined to be fiendishly costly.

If you are likely to re-purpose your previous computer parts then there are a couple things you would like to avoid. The computers weren't on the net or a LAN. You will need to choose what sort of computer you desire. Larger computers are usually available with quad cores. If you're re-using your previous computer then you have to strip out many of the extra expansion cards that you've installed over time. The majority of people buying cheap laptops will often need to acquire the very best value for money. For the normal user, obtaining a laptop that isn't too sluggish and that may be on the world wide web is easily the most important thing.

All You Need to Know About USB Drives

If you still haven't gone to the cloud, you are probably using the USB drives quite often. Most of the laptops these days, at least the higher end ones, do not have a CD-ROM. Instead, they all have USB slots so that you can easily use USB devices. They are easy to use and quite helpful.

If you're still not familiar with them, here's all that you need to know about them.

This drive is a small data storage device. It is portable and can be used for transfer of data between different computers. These drives have no power source of their own and can be operated only when plugged in. USB drives can be purchased in different sizes, ranging from 1 GB to 512 GB. They serve the same purpose as of floppy or CDs. As the USB drives can be used more comfortably, they have replaced floppy disks and CDs over the years. Here are a few things about USB drives.

Purpose of USB drives

The main feature of a USB drive is to transfer data. Besides that, it is used to store data externally, speed up the computer by boosting the ram and creating some space for the computer to run programs. It is used to run portable apps, troubleshooting and also to run an alternate operating system.

The hard drive vs USB flash drive

A hard drive is an external hard drive. It is similar to an internal drive except that it has a casing to protect it. It stores data by using disks. On the other hand, USB flash drive is also an external storage device. Unlike hard disks, it is in a solid state which means you have less chance of losing data. Some people also refer to these as a keychain drive.

Few awesome ways of using it

A USB drive can be used as a key to lock and unlock a computer. It can be used to revive a virus hidden system. It can be used to boot an operating system. It can be used to run portable apps, games and utilities. To list, there are many more.

Few drawbacks

The small size of the USB drives to assist portability is not only their advantage but it is also a disadvantage as it can be easily lost. Over the time they become corrupted and unreadable. These devices can easily corrupt the system as they can be a storehouse of viruses, especially if you do not have a good antivirus system installed.

Cultural Diversity and What It Means to IT Managers

Recently I sat in on a meeting between a group of IT developers (contractors) and Federal program managers. Just a routine project review.

As I looked around, it struck me that we were really quite a diverse crowd. In the room were people from China, Viet Nam, India, Russia, Somalia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Iran, as well as a few U.S.-born folks.

This kind of diversity has become quite normal for our industry. In that sense, the IT business is a real meritocracy, where talent is valued regardless of race, creed, or national origin.

Yet this diversity can also make a manager's job more challenging, for not only is there a constant need to understand and deal with various personality types, but also, increasingly, a need to recognize how cultural differences can come in to play in one-on-one and group dynamics.

As an illustration, one time I was working with a customer that had engaged a leadership training and organizational development consultant to help them to build stronger project teams.

The consultant was talking about motivation, and used psychologist Abraham Maslow's "Hierarchy of Needs" to argue that the desire for self-actualization is the ultimate motivator; that is, the individual's desire to realize his full potential, or to be all that she can be.

Well this made good sense to me, and indeed many people accept Maslow's hierarchy as practically self-evident. Yet for many of the participants in the training, the idea of self-actualization being the universal, deepest need was highly questionable, if not completely off base.

For although Maslow's hierarchy may reflect a deep truth for Western cultures, it has little relevance to much of the world's population, particularly those cultures that engender a collectivist rather than individualistic worldview. In a collectivist culture (e.g., Japan, India), community or group needs have a much greater moral weight than individual needs - fulfilling group needs is more personally rewarding than fulfilling one's individual needs. This difference is not merely philosophical; not simply a matter of how one thinks, but rather is deeply ingrained and felt, and part of one's being.

In fact, the collectivist - individualist contrast is but one of many dimensions of cultural difference that social scientists describe.

For example, anthropologist and organizational behavior expert Joerg Schmitz identifies no fewer than ten "cultural variables" that make up a cultural profile:

Environment - viewing people, objects and issues from perspectives of harmony, constraint or control
Time - focused on the past (tradition), present (immediate action), or future (planning)
Action - reflective, relationship oriented (being), or task oriented (doing)
Communications - largely non-verbal and implicit (high context), or explicit (low context)
Personal space - public or private
Power - egalitarian or hierarchical
Individualism - collectivist or individualistic
Competitiveness - cooperative or competitive
Structure - flexible or ordered
Thinking - deductive or inductive; linear or systemic

There's a lot for an IT manager to consider here! Perhaps step one is simply to make sure that we're not wearing cultural blinders - that we are at least open to the possibility that our various employees and coworkers may each have a fundamentally different way of seeing things that is just as "right" as our own perspective!

How To Really Get Rid Of Those Useless Temp Files

Here's something I do whenever I want to be 100% sure I've deleted as many temp files as possible, since I've seen Disk Cleanup leave stuff behind every so often.

    1. Click on the Start button.

    1. Click on Computer (My Computer on XP).

      1. Click on the Organize menu near the top left corner of the window (Folder Options on XP).

      2. Click on Folder and Search options.

      3. Click on the View tab

      4. In the Advanced Settings section navigate to Files and Folders \ Hidden files and folders, click on the Show hidden files, folders, or drives radio button and uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option. When you do this last step you'll get a dialog box stating that deleting or editing protected system files can make your computer inoperable. Click on the Yes button to follow through with unchecking that option. Don't worry; we'll be careful.

      5. Click on the OK button to close the Folder Options window.

    1. Double-click on the C: drive to open it.

    1. Double-click on the Users folder (Documents and Settings on XP).

    1. Look for your user profile and open it.

    1. Navigate to AppData \ Local \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Temporary Internet Files (Local Settings \ Temporary Internet Files on XP).

  1. Select all the folders and files you see in there and delete them.

You're bound to get a message that some folder or file cannot be deleted due to it being used. Don't worry. Just press the CTRL key while you click on the offending folder or file and continue deleting the rest of the files. If you again get the same error message on a different folder or file repeat the same process above to unselect it and continue deleting. Once you're done there should only be a few folders and files under Temp. A lot better than the hundreds you probable started with. Now let's continue.

    1. Click on the left arrow located in the upper left-hand side of the window until you're back in the AppData \ Local folder (Local Settings on XP).

    1. Double-click on the Temp folder and delete everything in it. Again, as explained above, unselect any folders or files that are being used and delete the rest.

    1. Once again, click on the left arrow to go back to the AppData folder (The root of your user folder on XP).

    1. Navigate to Roaming \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Cookies (On XP the Cookies folder is located within the root of your user folder.).

    1. Delete any folder and file you see in there.

    1. Click on the C: drive, navigate to Windows \ Temp and delete every folder and file you see in there.

  1. Go to the Desktop and empty the Recycle Bin.

Don't forget to follow step 2 to go back and put a check mark on the Hide protected operating system files option.

5 Reasons You Need a USB Drive Today

Today, you will find new software out there in the market every day - developers are cashing in on the increasing demand for apps while companies are trying to increase revenue. While a life without television, phones and computers was the way the world worked a century back, today it's quite different.

Unless you have already adopted to the cloud and store all your information over it, you probably are using these every day. In fact, these are pretty handy to send information from one place to another.

Here are the 5 things why you need to love these and use them every day.

1. Major device used for transferring data

USB drives are the major way of transmitting information between computers. It has superseded all other means of data transmitting devices. They are fast, efficient and more authentic. With the help of these drives heavy data can be transported at the least time possible by whatever other way.

2. USB drives act as external storage devices

They are the most widely used external storage devices today. No one uses a floppy or CD-ROM's today, your desktop probably doesn't even has a space for a floppy disk today. If you're using a laptop, you might not even have a CD-ROM drive too. You can have all backups done to the device easily. Unlike other devices, they are not easily damaged and can be used roughly.

3. Installation of operating system can be done using USB drives

For a new PC or laptop, the OS can be installed with the help of a USB drive. They are preferred over optical disks since a few PCs and laptops do not have the optical drives to run them.

4. It acts as a mixed tape

One need not pile up a smart phone with songs to listen in a car. The cars today have built-in USB ports. All that one has to do is to insert your drive in port and let the songs play for you. The smallest flash drive can hold numbers of songs than your smart phone.

5. One can have a larger number of apps stored on a USB drive

It is the best place to store apps. Having too many apps on a PC makes it a mess. You can store them in your flash USB drive and can use it only when needed.

Electro-Mechanical Assemblies In The Military - A Beginner's Guide

When it comes to working with clients like the military, quality and reliability in all areas of manufacturing is crucial because their applications are too critical to fail. This is most certainly the case with electro-mechanical assemblies. After all, the military aims at running as smoothly as possible, and in order to do this, the right materials in their computing & mechanical systems are paramount to their success.

In order to understand electro-mechanical assemblies in terms of military applications, it is perhaps best to look at the construction & use of these assemblies in terms of 1) what they are; 2) the ability to deliver the necessary materials; 3) having the proper certification; and 4) the ability to deliver a finished product on time.

In essence, a device with an electrical & mechanical component can be referred to as electro-mechanical. Think moving parts powered by electricity or that have electricity running through them. There are an endless number of devices that can qualify under this definition, but typically you are referring to things related to computers or that are operated by computers. Items such as fan tray assemblies, box build assemblies, and switch & sensor assemblies all constitute electro-mechanical assemblies.

With respect to the military, assemblies are put through to the test because they will face tougher field conditions. A typical assembly might do the job, but as with most things military, there's a need for electro-mechanical assemblies to go a bit further. Again, you're talking about an industry that has critical missions that depend on all equipment to be working at all times. Failure is not an option. As the military contracts this type of work out, they, too, need to be sure that the manufacturer they plan on working with can actually produce what they need.

It's also important that the prospective manufacturer the military plans on working with for its electro-mechanical assembly needs has skilled employees that are fully trained & are up-to-date with current regulations & industry standards. Moreover, it's important to know what type of industry credentials a manufacturer carries. Certifications should include IPC/WHMA/UL certificates, as well as ITAR compliance, and they should have qualification in MIL Specifications.

Finally, the military depends on a strict adherence to lead times for delivery of goods. While the budgetary concerns a general commercial industry may face are different for a government agency, there is still a need to respect said agency's schedule. Losing track of when materials will be delivered can be of grave consequence to the military. Both parties need to be in full communication at all junctures of the manufacturing process to be sure a contracted production date will be kept.

Electro-mechanical assemblies can be found in just about any industry you can think of that uses a combination of electrical and/or mechanical components. Military assembly needs take on a more pronounced significance, requiring efficiency in the manufacturing & production process, rigorous testing, and strict standards in both industry credentials & delivery lead times.

Manufacturing A Wire Harness in Mexico - What You Need To Know

Given the penchant for many business to try to save money, it is fairly commonplace to see a company take its manufacturing processes outside of the United States. This goes for manufacturers such as those that make wire harnesses, but it is important for these manufacturers to think a bit about the wire harness Mexico could produce versus a location thousands of miles away.

For decades, the prospect of moving any manufacturing into Mexico has had its ups and downs. Years of political tension have certainly played a part in making a transition to our country's neighbor to the south a bit tougher a sell. Moreover, customers have perhaps made up their own minds when it comes to having products come from Mexico because they've heard enough to make them feel they won't get a great product.

This hearsay and misinformation is bad for business, so it's important that wire harness manufacturers rethink their stance on Mexico and what it can offer. Here are a few points to consider:

Lower Operating Costs While Maintaining High Standards - Manufacturers of wire harnesses send production abroad because they know that labor is less expensive, which means bigger profits. These manufacturers, however, are unaware that Mexico has very competitive operating costs, especially in the interior of the country. Manufacturers have found that the workforce is solid and that knowledge of the field is sound.

Market Sustainability Very High - Wire harnesses are used in just about every possible type of industry you can imagine and have been for many years. They are used in some of the most sustainable markets with a dedicated customer base, so with production being moved to Mexico contributing to the country's own growth, the ability to manufacturer "down south" looks to be a good move for the future.

Easier Access to Site by Manufacturer - If something goes wrong at manufacturing site abroad and an issue has to be addressed in person, how long would it take to get feet on the ground to begin the resolution process? How many resources would be used? By staying close by, a manufacturer has an easier time being physically available to address issues and run inspection of the process. Moreover, having a manufacturing site strategically placed can make for getting product to a customer much easier with lower cost than having to travel longer distances.

Protection of Intellectual Property - For quite some time, there have been issues noted by manufacturers who operate abroad that stem from an inability to protect their intellectual property. A wire harness may not make most people think twice so long as it seems to do the trick, but a cheap knock-off that bears a resemblance to a company's product could cause distrust among potential, and even current, customers.

The wire harness Mexico is capable of manufacturing should make you pay closer attention to what Mexico can offer. Moreover, the upside to this business relationship is having customers feel as though your product is still of stellar quality, up-to-date on industry standards, and that issues that may come up can be addressed relatively quicker & easier.
